Budleigh Salterton ladies were 2-1 winners when they entertained Seaton Town ladies in a Westward Developments Devon Women’s League Division One match, writes SpursTom.

The game was a close affair, and the two teams went into the contest with Budleigh sitting third in the table, one place below Seaton Town.

The hosts made a flying start and took a fifth minute lead when leading scorer Amy Salter rifled the ball home.

An end-to-end encounter followed and both sides went close before the Robinettes doubled their advantage with a 28th minute penalty firmly tucked away by Amy Salter to see the Robinettes into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The second period continued with the emphasis on attacking football, keeping both defences busy.

A goal had to come, and it was the visitors who struck to halve the deficit through Megan Griffiths.

As the pitch became heavier, it was noticeable that tiredness was creeping into the game. This was a close and sporting game between two well-matched sides, ending with Budleigh winning the spoils thanks to a 2-1 score line.
