Archant

I can’t believe that we are halfway through the main bowling season and the very unseasonable weather continues to defeat us with most of the greens not playing as usual and even at Phear Park there is an above average number of ‘ditch ‘ woods, writes David Evans.

After the cancellation of the away fixture at Okehampton, due to a flooded green, the next game was at home against Dawlish Marina in the Over-60s League and the A team came away with seven valuable points.

The triple of Whyte, Summers and Evans, finished 11 shots ahead and the other triple forced a five on the last end to tie their game!

The B team, in away action against bottom-of-the-table Crediton, tied on one rink and lost by 27 on the other rink, and so ended up with a solitary point, but the B team are greatly improved from last year thanks to some new very keen club bowlers and remain in the top half of table.

The Sunday triples game at Pinces Gardens was a minor disaster, with Park going down by 40 shots, but the triple of Weclowek, Summers and Robins were successful by 15-10.

We look forward this week entertaining tourists from St Albans, and our Centenary Cup on Saturday, but the weather forecast is not good
