The weather this week has been likened to the great soaring weather achieved in 1976. Five gliders from North Hill have spent the week at Cotswold Gliding Club at Aston Down competing in the 2018 Competition Enterprise.
All have achieved notable successes with Peter Bennett in his DG100 and Nick Harrison in his DG202 both completing their first 300km flights. Ron Johns has been coaching Sir Chris Coville in his two-seater ASH25, for flying cross-country.
Phil Morrison and team have been flying Duo Discus and were highest placed at 11th having completed nearly 500km on their best day.
Team Eagle had some exceptional flights for the oldest and lowest handicapped glider in the field, flying out over the sea at Weymouth to claim additional bonus points. Team Eagle won the John Cadman Trophy for the most enterprising flight and also the Blunt Nails trophy for the best low performance glider.
