Archant

A four-year-old schoolgirl from Cranbrook has been so moved by the devastation caused by hurricanes in America that she’s decided to raise funds to help the families affected.

Heidi Carter, who has joined the reception class at Cranbrook Education Campus, is holding a charity cake sale at 2pm at Hayes Square Park on Saturday, September 23.

“Last week the school had an assembly about the hurricanes that hit America and islands surrounding it,” said Heidi’s mum, Emma Carter.

“Heidi came home and told me, ‘Mummy, people’s houses have lots of water in them all the way to the top. We need to do a cake sale to make money’.

“At first I was shocked that she had actually listened, but every day she has asked to make cakes and do a sale. As it’s for a good cause, who am I to stop her?”

As well as home-made cakes, Tesco has kindly donated cakes and cookies to the sale.
