First five rosette award of 2017 for Devon restaurant

A Devon-based restaurant will become the first in 2017 to be given a top industry award.

The AA multi rosettes are awarded bi-annually in January and September. Gidleigh Park has become the first restaurant in 2017 to be awarded the five rosette award.

Chef Michael Wignall moved to the restaurant 12 months ago.

Alistair Sandall, commercial manager at AA Hotel Services said: “While the awarding of new five rosettes is usually included in our main hospitality awards in September we all felt that we could not delay this award until then. “Michael Wignall has transferred his exquisite skills and style to Gidleigh Park and has made this undoubtedly worthy of this accolade.”

The Olive Room, in Ilfracombe, The Boringdon Hall Hotel, in Plymouth and Bovey Castle, in Moretonhampstead, were also named three AA rosette restaurants.

Restaurants awarded three AA Rosettes are all outstanding restaurants that achieve standards that demand national recognition well beyond their local area.
