Windwhistle Motor Club of Chard has held its third annual September Autumn Trial at Parkhayne Farm at Shute Devon.

The challenge was to negotiate a series of marked out twisting routes on hills and slopes of varying severity.

The competitor who gets the farthest up hills whilst hitting the least number of numbered route marker posts wins.

The event attracted seventeen entries in vehicles ranging from everyday road cars of various makes and ages to modified specialist trial cars.

The entrants were from all around the South Somerset and the East Devon area. This year’s overall winner was Mark Hoppe in his Dutton trials car.

Windwhistle Motor Club would like to express its thanks to the land owner, Mr Brian Chidley, who gave the use of his land and provided the use of a “Shooters’ Cabin” for use as event HQ. As Mr Chidley provided use of the venue free of charge for love of the sport, the club arranged a collection for Brian’s favourite charity, Cancer Research UK. The collection raised an amount of £107.69 which was donated on his behalf.

Details of the club’s events etc can be found on the club’s website, www.windwhistlemotorclub.com or on the motor club’s Facebook page.
