The new golfing year for Sidmouth Golf Club Captains began on January 29, in the rain!

A Texas Scramble competition was held, with huge support from the members.

This was followed by a delicious buffet lunch, provided by the captains.

The traditional ‘Drive-In’ by both captains got underway as soon as possible, because the weather was deteriorating as the day went on.

Prizes were awarded for guessing the final position of the two drives, and bottles of champagne were won by Suzy Jenkin and Suzanne Clapp, both relations of the ladies’ captain!!

Both captains are born Sidmouthians and were delighted to have many friends and family supporting them on their special day.

This year the captain’s have chosen CLIC Sargent as their charity. A charity which provides much needed help to children with cancer, and their families. An exceptionally good start was made on the day, with £1000 being donated.

Many other fund raising events will be held throughout the year.

The captains would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to a very successful golfing year.
