Exmouth United Under-15s continued their winning start to the new season with a 5-0 home win over Okehampton, a result that sees them sitting top of Division One of the Exeter and District Youth League table.

With their two previous outings so far this term seeing them win away games 5-1 and 6-0, United went into their first home game of the campaign in confident mood.

The opening goal arrived in the 25th minute with Jared Guy arrowing home a free-kick awarded when captain Sam Pratt was hauled down on the edge of the penalty area.

Skipper Pratt doubled his side’s lead when he headed home a fine cross from Harry Williams and, as half-time approached, striker George Phillips rifled the ball home to see United into a 3-0 interval lead.

Goal number four came when Pratt cut in from the left before curling the sweetest of strikes into the corner of the net.

Okehampton looked to respond, but got little change out of the United back line of Harry Al-Mashoor, Harry Clarke, Alfie Gillard and Adam Brown in front of goalkeeper Archie Clements. Charlie Skinner, Joe Bowden, Tom Head and Will Bailey all went close to adding further goals before Pratt found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, a battle he won to complete his hat-trick and round off the scoring.

Both teams deserve lots of credit for their approach to the game, one played in testing conditions and the match was superbly officiated by referee Martin Bovey.
