East Budleigh Reserves produced a fine battling performance on their way to a 3-2 win when they entertained Tedburn St Mary Reserves in a Macron League Division Nine meeting, writes Mark Auton.

It was the away side who struck first, opening their account midway through the half, but Budleigh bounced back to shock their opponents with three goals in a 12-minute spell.

Ben Wilks levelled things up with a tidy finish, before Joe Walker put Budleigh in front when his superbly hit free-kick rifled into the top corner.

A minute before the break Julian Green was fouled in the box leaving Tom Christian to confidently convert the resultant penalty kick.

The second half was not as comfortable for Budleigh as the away side upped the anti!

Budleigh keeper Drew Shorrock made a couple of sharp saves to keep his team ahead after Tedburn had reduced their arrears.

Josh Whiller entered the action for Budleigh and hooked an effort just wide, but Budleigh held on to the points thanks to a well-timed tackle from Lewis Fletcher and some calm defending from Man of the match Jack Morgan.

This Saturday Budleigh visit Thorverton Reserves for another league game.
