Madeira bowlers go down in three friendly matches

Three friendlies were played by Madeira over the past week, writes Jenny Smith.

Six mixed rinks travelled to Tiverton West End for a closely matched game.

Madeira won four of the six rinks, but lost overall by 107 shots to 116. John Relph skipped his team of Colin Hughes, Mary Clook and Jude Latta to achieve the best shots difference of plus six for Madeira.

Bovey Tracey brought six mixed rinks to Madeira to win by 123 shots to 96.

Madeira won on two rinks with Pat Boman skipping her team of Dee Williams, Dennis Fears and Alan Porter to achieve the best result of 22 shots to 10 for the home team.

Captain Vic Doidge enjoyed taking six mixed rinks to his previous club Tavistock, but was disappointed to lose by 104 shots to 123 although he, and his team of Dennis Fears, Joan Stevens and Angela Denner, had the best result for Madeira of plus nine shots.
