Cranbrook were 2-0 winners on their visit to Exmouth Spartans for a Macron League Division Five game.
Cranbrook made the trip missing five regulars through work, injury, a wedding and the final cricket matchday of the season.
A close encounter saw the deadlock broken in the 70th minute when a long throw into the area was headed home by substitute Dan MacDonald.
Five minutes later, club captain James Bloomfield made sure of the points with a clinical finish.
Delighted Cranbrook boss Jon Martin said: “I must give special praise to regular defender Jon Elstone, who took on the goalkeeping duties, but the Man of the Match shift came from right back Ben Saxton, who had without doubt his best game in a Cranbrook shirt! He was strong defensively and made several surging runs down the line!”
Looking ahead to this Saturday and a visit to Starcross, Martin says: “It’s another tough game. We have players away and a few carrying knocks, but it’s the chance for others to step in and step up and show us what they have got.”
