Honiton ladies have battled their way into two national area finals (clubs in Devon and Cornwall), writes Julie Grant.

Success in the area final sends the winning team to the England finals which are held later in the season!

So, it is very much a case of congratulations for getting this far and, indeed, good luck to Yvonne Williams and Rita Barwick in the Over-60 pairs and Yvonne again, playing with Di Hawkins, Pat Whitworth and Di Morley in the fours.

In the county Lane League last years result has been repeated with Torbay winning the trophy and Honiton securing second place in Division One.

Torbay played well and won against Honiton by 77 shots to 46 claiming nine points and the title.

The Honiton men lost their Interclub game against, going down by 63 shots to 85 to Madeira. The top Honiton rink was the one of Alan Fuller, Dennis Hillyear, Gerry Stafrace and Malcolm Seaborne, who won 24-15.

In a mixed friendly against Chardstock, Honiton chalked up an 81 shots to 49 success with the top rink for Honiton being the one of Marian Baxter, Bob Mackintosh, Di Hawkins and Steve Howell.
