There’s an intriguing contest taking place on Thursday (August 23) night at the Imperial ground.

The Cockles are playing their second warm-up game of the pre-season when they take on Exeter Chiefs Academy with the match kicking off at 6.45pm.

The Cockles 1st XV begin a new South West premier campaign on Saturday week (September 1) with a home game against Cleve.

That’s the first of five matches the team will play in the opening month of the new campaign.

The full September fixture list reads:

Sep 1 H Cleve

Sep 8 A Drybrook

Sep 15 H Exeter University

Sep 22 H Weston-super-Mare

Sep 29 A Ivybridge

In other news from the Cockles, the junior section is looking for additional players for both the Under-14 and under 15 teams.

All abilities are catered for and anyone interested is asked to email juniors@exmouthrugby.co.uk for more information.
