Up-and-coming all-rounder Sam Read, a regular in the club’s 1st XI last season, was bowler of the year for Devon U15s. He spun his way to 12 wickets at 13 runs each.

The second prize winner from the Bohea Field was lady cricketer Katie Donovan. With 14 wickets at fewer then six runs each, she was the bowler of the year for Devon U15 Girls. Sophie Florides, who turns out for Topsham St James, took the bowler of the year award for Devon U17 Ladies. She had 16 scalps at 13 runs each. Nearly 300 people – players, friends and parents – packed the functions suite at Exeter Chiefs’ stadium for the presentations. All sections of Devon cricket were represented, from the Under-10 boys, through ladies and girls’ cricket up to the Devon Minor Counties side. Mark Tyler, the former television presenter compared the event, assisted by Exeter Chiefs scrum-half Jack Maunder.
