Budleigh Salterton still unbeaten in league derbies this season

Budleigh Salterton came out of their two festive matches with mixed results, banking three of the six points available from an away game at St Martins and a home Boxing Day match against Sidmouth Town.

The Robins had led 2-0 in the game at St Martins before the home side scored four times in 13 second half minutes to turn the game on its head.

The Boxing Day win over Sidmouth Town left the Robins sitting sixth in the Eastern Division, but just six points behind leaders Newton Abbot Spurs (see the latest table inside on page 31).

There’s no game for Budleigh this Saturday (December 30), so they are next in action on the first Saturday of 2018 when they entertain Brixham at Greenway Lane (3pm).

The victory over Sidmouth Town also meant that the Robins remain unbeaten in East Devon derby matches this season and, in terms of the unofficial ‘East Devon derby league’ table, they sit top with seven points from three games. They and Axminster Town are the two sides yet to lose a derby game this season and so the home and away meetings with the Tiger Way outfit in the second half of the season will determine just which team ends the current campaign as the ‘top side in East Devon’.
