Whilst the 2018 outdoor season was an undoubted success for the Budleigh bowlers, this was primarily due to a small number of committee members working very hard to keep proceedings running as smoothly as possible, writes David Roberts.

Member numbers during the summer period are always challenging as the club looks to stay involved in all categories of matches across Devon and to continue welcoming touring teams, and it is therefore essential for the club’s future that new members and committee members are found.

The existing committee is very passionate about the club, but requires help to improve the club, particularly for outdoor bowling.

The potential within is immense and so much more could be achieved for a club that owns its facilities and is financially sound, but for this to happen work is required, particularly in the recruitment of new playing members and for existing members to step up and help the club.

This Saturday (November 3) sees the holding of the 2018 annual general meeting of the outdoor section.

The meeting gets underway at 10am at the club’s Cricketfield Lane home where all members are very welcome to attend, as are members of the general public who might be interested in joining the club. Refreshments will be available so come along to find out more about the bowls section.

We ask that all members make the effort to attend and consider how they can help in any way to support the existing committee.
