Budleigh bowlers reflect on a successful 2018 outdoor season

As the outdoor season draws to an end at Budleigh Salterton Bowls Club, Saturday saw the traditional Captain’s Day, which was held indoors due to the inclement weather and as ever on these occasions there was time to celebrate the achievements of the club over the summer season, writes David Roberts.

With no outdoor play possible, a quick revision of plans saw a fun quiz session followed by a cream tea and presentation of the club trophies.

A big thank you must go to Joan Shaw, Anne Goddard, Di Lowe, Don Huish and Brian Evans for their hard work in the food and drink department.

The 2018 outdoor campaign was a challenging but successful season for all concerned and with strong support from the playing members, existing and new, there will be many memories to look back on.

The club entertained ten touring sides, hosted Devon County competitions, fulfilled a busy friendly diary and took part in the competitive leagues. The playing surface was much improved with the club grounds looking at their best for a long time. The club’s outdoor committee, who are few in numbers, must be congratulated on all their hard work throughout the season.

As the indoor season gets under way this week the club sends best wishes to all concerned for a successful season.
