Exmouth based photographer Jason Sedgemore, 33, of Woodfield Close, shares his passion for photography.

“I’ve always been interested in photography ever since I was younger and borrowed my cousin’s Olympus Camedia camera. From then I’ve always made sure that I have a camera with me everywhere I go.

“I bought my first Nikon DSLR camera in 2014 and started taking my photography work more seriously. I’ve loved learning all about the different settings with a manual camera and the creativity it brings. I enjoy taking photos of anything and everything but I haven’t yet found a favourite genre of photography. However, living in Exmouth with the beautiful surroundings of East Devon, you just can’t help but be drawn to nature and wildlife subjects with plenty of photographic opportunities.

“I’m also quite keen on aviation and love to take pictures at airshows. I’ve been fascinated with the Red Arrows ever since my granny and grandpa took me to see them when I was a child. I first tried to photograph the jets at Bournemouth airshow in 2008 with a point and shoot, which was really difficult due to the speed at which they fly. I went to Yeovilton air day last year armed with my DSLR, which was easier but still had its challenges due to the fast pace and the changing conditions and having to constantly change the camera settings to get the photo right.

“I have shot a couple of weddings for friends and covered some events, such as Budleigh football club presentation night and Exmouth Ammies team photo. At the moment photography is a passion of mine, although one day I’d like to turn my passion into a career.

“My photography ability has progressed lots since I first started out using point and shoot cameras. I have since learnt many skills and the basics of controlling ISO, aperture and shutter speed and I’m now framing up shots and using the techniques I’ve learnt along the way.”
