There’s not long to go now before nominations close for Cranbrook Young Citizen of the Year 2018.
So if you know of a young person – or a young group – who have made a positive improvement to the Cranbrook community, get nominating now!
And, if they win, they’ll not only get a trophy and a certificate, but also £100!
Launched in 2015 by the Cranbrook Herald and Cranbrook Town Council (CTC), nominations are open for this year’s award until 11am, on Monday, March 19, 2018.
The award is given annually to the young person – or young group – who has made the biggest contribution to the Cranbrook community during the year.
The winner will be announced on Monday, April 9, at CTC’s Meeting of the Town.
The first recipients of the award were Cranbrook Education Campus pupils Katie Coles and her friend Paige Simpson.
The 12-year-olds raised more than £100 for Cancer Awareness Day by organising fundraising events at their school.
The award’s second recipient was 10-year-old Mathilda Donnelly, a pupil from Rockbeare Primary School, who, on her own initiative, picked up litter from the Country Park and then devised a poster campaign to keep the town tidy.
This year’s judging panel comprises Kevin Blakey (CTC’s chairman), Andrew Coley (Cranbrook Herald’s content editor) and the Reverend Lythan Nevard (Cranbrook’s minister).
