A new and affordable food initiative – offering fun, friendship and different cuisines to try – is coming to Cranbrook.

Pot Luck will be launched at the Younghayes Centre on Saturday, March 18, 6pm-9pm, by the Network of Wellbeing.

“It’s a bring-and-share meal,” explains organiser Cate Barlemoor. “Each person or family brings a dish – such as some soup, lasagne, a chilli, a curry, salad, a homemade pie, hummus, carrots, bread, cakes and fruit.

“So a dish from one person turns into a feast for many. Dishes are labelled and organised into starters, mains and puddings.”

Cate – a mother of two children at St Martin’s Primary School – has often enjoyed Pot Luck events at Totnes, and thought the idea would ‘really work’ in Cranbrook.

“Isolation is a big problem for many people,” she says. “Community events like this can help people get out of the house and start talking to each other. Everyone is welcome, all age groups!”

The first event will have a St Patrick’s Day theme, so Irish dishes will be most welcome.

More details: call Cate on 07833 895872, or email catebarle@mail.com, or contact Cranbrook Development Worker Keith Johnson on 01404 549045 (ext 207).
